Ingredients
  

Cake:

  • – 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • – 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • – 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • – 1 teaspoon salt
  • – 1/2 cup softened butter
  • – 1 cup milk
  • – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • – 2 large eggs

Frosting:

  • – 1/2 cup butter 1 stick
  • – 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • – 3 cups powdered sugar
  • – 1/3 cup milk
  • – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

For cake:

  1. Prepare 2-9 inch cake pans and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Add butter, milk, and vanilla, then mix for 2 minutes.
  4. Add eggs and beat again for 2 minutes.
  5. Divide batter into pans and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes or until they test done.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn onto cooling rack and cool completely.

For frosting:

  1. Melt butter. Stir in cocoa.
  2. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, and beat well.
  3. Stir in vanilla.
