Ingredients
Cake:
- – 2 cups all-purpose flour
- – 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- – 1 tablespoon baking powder
- – 1 teaspoon salt
- – 1/2 cup softened butter
- – 1 cup milk
- – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- – 2 large eggs
Frosting:
- – 1/2 cup butter 1 stick
- – 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- – 3 cups powdered sugar
- – 1/3 cup milk
- – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS:
For cake:
- Prepare 2-9 inch cake pans and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Sift together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add butter, milk, and vanilla, then mix for 2 minutes.
- Add eggs and beat again for 2 minutes.
- Divide batter into pans and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes or until they test done.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn onto cooling rack and cool completely.
For frosting:
- Melt butter. Stir in cocoa.
- Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, and beat well.
- Stir in vanilla.
